Suki Waterhouse @ Agora (12/6/24)
Suki Waterhouse came out to a sold out Agora Theatre Friday night, where her fans (dressed to the 9's) gave her a huge round of applause. The room was warm in contrast to the freezing cold weather outside, and the stage was decorated with plants, trees, a giant cobweb, and a disco ball. The warmth with the visual design reminded me of an indoor botanical garden, but a kind that feels surreal, like you're experiencing it in a dream. The feeling of an ethereal dreaminess would stay throughout the whole evening, blanketing the crowd in a little bit of magic. Suki started her set with “Gateway Drug” followed by "Supersad" from her new album "Memoir of a Sparklemuffin." She moved effortlessly around the stage, taking moments to connect with the audience while performing. As someone who photographs models pretty frequently, I could tell Suki herself was a model by the way she gracefully went from pose to pose. The show was so much fun to photograph; So much effort was put into every piece of the experience, I felt lucky to be a part of it. After finishing the main set the crowd chanted "Suki" until her and her four piece band made a return to the stage. Suki ended the encore with her huge hit “Good Looking.” Agora was the perfect venue for this show in my opinion. A higher capacity venue would have felt more impersonal, while a smaller venue wouldn't have been able to host such beautiful stage design. It was a lovely evening Friday night, one I know everyone left smiling from.
Bully opened the show with emotive rock tunes and was perfect to get the crowd ready and rolling.
