Tycho @ House of Blues (1/21/24)

While it was -5°F outside in Cleveland on Tuesday night, Tycho kept the temperature in House of Blues nice and hot. Coming out to a crowd chanting “Tycho, Tycho, Tycho”, the band members took the stage. The touring band consists of Scott Hansen on keyboards, Zac Brown on bass, Billy Kim on keys and bass, and Rory O’Connor on drums. Tycho originally started as a solo project by leader Scott Hansen in 2002, and it is still known as Scott’s alter ego of sorts. Tycho has released 7 studio albums, with the newest titled “Infinite Health” released at the end of August 2024. Tycho’s music is analog-sounding electronic that incorporates aspects of analog visuals into the performance. The stage was adorned with a screen behind the band and a projector that often washed the members with color and visuals. There was a large disco ball above the band and smaller disco balls on the ground on each side of the stage. When a song would reach its boiling point, lights would hit the disco balls and throw small beams of light over the band and crowd. It was a very beautiful sight to see. Tycho is a band I really recommend people seeing at least once in their lifetime. Between the mesmerizing visuals and the lo-fi sound, a Tycho show is an experience all of its own.
