Alkaline Trio @ Agora (3/8/2024)
I was first introduced to Alkaline Trio as a teenager. I remember being 16 and downloading "Snake Oil Tanker" from Limewire, and being instantly hooked. From that point on, well into my 20's, they were my favorite band. I got to see them on their 2015 The Past Live Tour when they played all of their albums over the course of 4 nights. It turns out one of my current best friends was also at those shows, though we didn't know it at the time. Getting to photograph Alkaline Trio last night felt like a full circle moment for my teenaged self.
Alkaline Trio has been around since the mid 90's, releasing their first full length album "Goddamnit" in 1998. They've been a solid part of the punk scene, amassing a huge following along the way. The band currently consists of members;
Matt Skiba on vocals on guitar, Dan Andriano on bass and vocals, and Atom Willard on drums. The band sported suits, with a large banner of their logo as a backdrop. Alkaline Trio is touring for their tenth studio album "Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs" that was released January of 2024. At the show on Friday night the band played a healthy mix of tunes from throughout their catalogue. They opened the concert with "Hot for Preacher" from their newest album, and concluded the night with fan favorite "Radio".
Alkaline Trio is a lifelong band for me. I respect that they are still putting out new music and touring, despite doing so for almost 3 decades. I will continue to see them when they come to town, and I hope I get many more opportunities to photograph them too.
