Cannons @ Agora (6/7/24)
Thursday was an evening of dancing, dressing up, and vibing at Agora, Cleveland. Local artist, Chayla Hope, started the night off swinging by playing a sampling of her original songs. The crowd instantly took to her music, and energetically cheered her on between each song. There were a few times where the start of the next song was even slightly delayed because of how long the crowd cheered for her! With poppy melodies, and a stunning voice, Chayla was the perfect fit to warm up the crowd for Cannons.
Cannons followed, and came out to a stage draped in lush red curtains, and pedestals for the instrumentalists in the band. Cannons consists of members Michelle Joy on vocals, Ryan Clapham on guitar, and Paul Davis on keyboardist and bass guitar. Michelle came out wearing a sparkly jumpsuit and thigh high red leather boots. They started the show playing, "Heartbeat Highway", the title track for their album that was released last fall. They played a healthy mix of songs off this new album, along with their huge hits from throughout the years. During the performance, each song had different and distinct lighting, adding to the ambiance that was created by the artists themselves. They rounded out the set by playing their monumental hit, "Fire For You", and as I walked out to my car, everyone had a smile on their face. Cannons was such an amazing artist to capture, and I am an instant fan after Thursday.
