Portugal. The Man @ Agora (5/12/24)
Reyna Tropical opened for Portugal. The Man Sunday evening at Agora, with a beautiful unique sound. “from Congolese, Peruvian, and Colombian rhythms” and with a soft angelic voice, singer Fabiola Reyna got the crowd moving. Playing songs off of her newest album “Malegría”, Reyna created a new fanbase in Cleveland.
Portugal. The Man was formed in 2004 in Wasilla, Alaska, and has released 9 studio albums since 2006. Their most recent "Chris Black Changed My Life" is a dedication to longtime friend Chris Black that passed away in 2019. Portugal. The Man have engaged in political activism and philanthropy over the years, supporting environmental, animal rights, and the needs of Native American and indigenous peoples. They opened the show Sunday night, by bringing out a few indigenous artists who performed a song, kicking off Portugal's set.
Throughout the show, the stage was filled with billowing smoke, and a camera operator walked around the stage filming the performance, which then was projected onto the backdrop by a huge industrial projector. Colorful flashing lights filled the stage, and the crowd screams filled the audience. They started the show by playing their song "Dopesmoker", followed by "Grim Generation", and "Marching with 6". They played a 27ish song set, and gave all the fans in the audience exactly what they came for!
